The Teaching Pathway

Teaching as a Profession (TAP) is a three-year pathway designed for students interested

in educational careers, pediatric care, and child development. This pathway is for high school

students that exhibit high academic achievement and a commitment to learning about the field of

education. Examining the Teaching Profession (TAP I) is the first course in the Teaching

Pathway and is an introduction to educational pedagogy, academic vocabulary, and educational

training. This course is a prerequisite to Contemporary Issues in Education (TAP II) and

Teaching as a Profession Practicum (TAP III).

Options for Pathway Completion

Teaching as a Profession

These are high school courses that introduces you to becoming a teacher. It focuses on teaching all grade levels, and it helps you learn more about yourself as a learner and how to teach

Early Childhood Education (ECE)

Dual Enrollment Courses with Athens Technical College. It focuses on children from Birth-5 years old. This program leads to certification to work as a lead teacher in a childcare facility
